The basic purpose of position: Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and screening applicants to fill existing and anticipated openings. This will be accomplished by using recruiting best practices, resulting in top-quality candidates for multi-state operations. Extensive travel up to 50% of total workdays will be required with this position. All travel and lodging expenses will be covered by Road & Rail Services.


  • Recruit for the various positions needed in the assigned region -- hourly associates, Team Leaders, and Managers.
  • Track and effectively manage costs associated with the recruiting process, provide periodic reports.
  • Develop advertising programs to ensure high visibility with potential candidates.¬†
  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive recruiting.
  • Conduct hiring sessions and recruiting functions for multiple locations.
  • Performs daily updates and regularly reviews data in the Driver Qualification System for accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct regular follow-up with hiring managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation.
  • Filter/manage applicant flow with the use of an Applicant Tracking System and various other tracking sources.
  • Run various pre-employment screening backgrounds such as Motor Vehicle Reports and Background Checks.
  • Review applications and give feedback to the hiring managers
  • Track turnover and recommend action based on results
  • Embody the Ethical practices and Core Values of the Company

Experience Requirements:

2 or more years experience in the transportation industry

Skills, Licenses, Certification, and/or Special Training:

  • Must maintain a valid state driver's license if required to operate company equipment.
  • Meet and maintain all requirements contained in the Conditions of Employment policy
  • Must be very effective with Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and other Office Programs

Physical, Mental & Sensory Requirements:

  • Ability to travel by all forms of commercial and private conveyance.
  • Ability to perform overnight travel up to 50% of total workdays.
  • Ability to occasionally use bending, twisting, walking motions on uneven surfaces includes crouching for periods of time.
  • Must be able to hear and communicate work or safety instructions spoken in a normal voice.
  • Ability to communicate telephonically for periods of time greater than 4 hours daily.
  • Ability to view and change data on a standard computer for periods of time greater than 4 hours daily.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
