 Job Summary:  The Assistant Terminal Manager oversees daily terminal operations of automotive loading and unloading of railcars, railcar prep crews, and mechanical operations.  The Assistant Terminal Manager position will also, at times, perform the job duties of the Terminal Manager. The Assistant Terminal Manager will directly manage a shift of 30 staff which will include over site of an Operations Manager, 2 Supervisors, and 20 associates. 

 This is a night shift position from 8:00pm to 6:00am and some weekends required.

Responsibilities:

•Maintaining work schedules for management and staff.

•Nightly saftey audits to ensure rules compliance and customer expectations are met. 

•Manage overtime and monitor payroll

•Investigate and report incidents/accidents

•Maintain communication with the Training Manager to ensure all management and staff on your shift are up to date.

•Directly oversee all paperwork for loading is accurate and correct before submitting.

•Ensuring all subordinates understand and comply with applicable customer and company work instructions, quality procedures and site standard operating procedures;

•Ensuring associates are properly trained on their jobs work instructions;

•Managing site performance relative to financial and productivity goals, developing, implementing and monitoring corrective actions where appropriate;

 Experience Requirements:  Should have 3 or more years of supervisory experience within a relative field.

 Skills, Licenses, Certification, and/or Special Training: 

  • Must maintain a valid state driver's license if required to operate company equipment;
  • Must be able to safely operate vehicles with either a standard and/or automatic transmission;
  • Must be proficient with email, Microsoft Word, and Excel for reports and communication

 Work and Environmental Conditions:

  • Must be able to constantly work in an outdoor environment, exposed to all weather elements, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions;
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and nights with the possibility of a rotation in the future.
  • Must be able to frequently climb, using various types of ladders, to heights in excess of 16 feet;
  • Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
